So, where did this interesting trend start?Â

The founder of Studio Hard, a man named Nobuyuki Takahashi visited the WorldCon in Los Angeles where he was impressed with the masquerade. He then coined the term âkosupereâ in Japanese, from which the term cosplay then developed.
From there, the trend started rapidly growing in both Japan and the US as more people started developing an interest in cosplay.
Itâs interesting to see, how such a popular hobby of millions of people around the world, has developed from one man taking an interest at an event.Â
Why Do People Cosplay Today?
People Cosplay because itâs fun to dress up as their favorite movie or TV show characters. Plus, itâs always interesting to experience different types of costumes and how they make you feel.
Some cosplayers report having increased confidence in certain types of costumes. Itâs a hobby, just like some people like to collect certain cards or stickers.
Cosplayers enjoy the entire process from creating their costumes to wearing it. And, there is also a great community around it, as itâs always interesting to see what characters other people dress up as.
