Moldable Foam Clay
Moldable Foam Clay
Description
Black Magic, by The Foamory, is an Air Dry Moldable Foam Clay for Cosplay. Our new High Density Formula allows us to supply you with the highest quality Foam Clay and an actual 300 & 900 grams of product in every container! Unlike most of our competitors who use a less dense version, something they don’t like to point out…
Moldable Cosplay Clay is fantastic for any and all Cosplay, Costume or Crafting projects. Sculpt, shape, or press virtually any design that your mind can conceive. After you are done working with the clay simply let it dry for up to 42 hours or more, allow 1-2 extra days for thicker designs. Once dry, it magically becomes like EVA Foam, able to cut, sand, Dremel, heat shape and even adhere to EVA Foam with contact cement or your favorite adhesive. You can also prime and paint to your liking. All the things you love to do with EVA Foam. Black Magic’s Moldable Foam Cosplay Clay can be used for:
- New builds
- Intricate detail work
- Pressing into silicon molds and holding very fine detail
- Filling in gaps and spaces
- And so much more!
It truly is Black Magic.
We started The Foamory after realizing how difficult it was for Cosplayers and Foam-Smiths to get their hands on true high density EVA foam and Cosplay supplies. It is our mission to bring you the finest cuts of EVA Foam out there for all of your Cosplay, costuming and crafting needs.
Great consistency, workable for about 4 minutes before the surface starts to set. Holds shape fairly well, and responds well to light water misting. If you are not familiar with this medium, it will continue to flow as it cures, and the surface working time is very short. I highly recommend some kind of armature for structures, it will not hold its own weight. I used wire and aluminum foil.
I literally just got this yesterday and I've already fell in love with this product. I'm making a mask for a Sebastian Solace (character featured in the drawing beside the mask) cosplay, I would've not made a mask if I wasn't so deathly afraid of full face makeup and color contacts haha. But this came in handy, super soft, super easy to use and smooth out, I love how I hardly have to worry about unnecessary lumps because while drying the product smoothes itself out. Very flexible and definitely worth the money. This is only the first coat of clay I've used for the mask, I will be applying more layers to touch up when the main layer has dried
It's a very satisfying texture, but it is difficult to know how to tear pieces off at first since it strings out quite a bit. But, it's not too messy, doesn't pick up too much dirt or cat hair and it doesn't take too long to dry. It also holds paint very well. Tldr: by far my new fav material to work with for soft crafts.
I got this clay just to try it was what I could use to make some work. I got surprised with the results. Looks awesome finish, got dry quick and easy to handle.
Even though the product is advertised as foam clay to make cosplay, I bought it to make modifications for my custom gaming mouse, and it turned out great. Way better than I was hoping for.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are some common uses for EVA foam?
EVA foam is widely used in various industries due to its versatility. Common applications include crafting and cosplay, where it is valued for its easy-to-shape properties. It is also used in sports equipment for its impact resistance and durability, in shoe insoles for comfort, in yoga mats for cushioning, and in flooring for its shock-absorbing properties.
What should I consider when choosing EVA foam for a project?
When selecting EVA foam for a project, consider the following factors:
Purpose of Use: Determine whether you need flexibility, comfort, or durability. For example, softer foam is better for wearable items, while harder foam is suitable for protective gear.
Comfort vs. Support: Softer foam offers more comfort, making it ideal for items like insoles or yoga mats. Harder foam provides better support and durability, suitable for sports equipment or flooring.
Longevity: Higher hardness foam may have a longer wear life but can be more challenging to work with.
Processing Techniques: The tools and methods for cutting, shaping, and bonding EVA foam can vary based on its hardness and intended use.
